You don’t need internet to use BoatVision offshore.
Heading out to fish or crossing the Atlantic, you can’t always count on an internet connection. BoatVision runs its detection software on the ruggedized platform aboard your boat. It checks the camera’s video and shows visual alerts on your screen or MFD without cellular service or satellite internet.
A long passage still needs a rested, attentive crew. Sails, rigging, spray, glare, and the boat’s movement can limit the camera’s view, so its position matters. We’ll review that with you before installation.

Outlines on your screen or MFD can help you notice objects BoatVision detects in the camera’s video. Your observations, experience, and navigation equipment help you judge what is happening around the whole boat.
Keep a close watch for people in the water.
A swimmer’s head can disappear between waves. BoatVision can show an outline on your screen or MFD around a person it detects, but it can miss them. Never rely on it alone to find someone, and don’t wait for an alert before responding to a person you see.
Take fatigue seriously on a long trip.
On an overnight passage or a late shift on a workboat, tiredness makes it harder to keep watch. BoatVision can help draw attention to objects ahead, but it cannot take over a watch or make up for an exhausted crew.
Night use depends on your camera.
BoatVision can only work with the view your camera provides after dark. The camera’s capabilities and the conditions determine what can be detected. Night display mode dims the screen to reduce brightness at the helm.
